WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY.
WINE ON A PIER IS AWESOME
Living in the Cape Town area with all the wineries tucked snugly away in the mountains, Fryer’s Cove looks more like a fish factory than a vineyard. But who knew – they certainly live up to their name and enjoying a lovely glass of wine along with a snack platter on a sunny afternoon on the pier is one of the best experiences you can ask for.Heidi F
We had a very informative wine tasting and fish-n-chips meal here. It was very chilly outside but we managed to get the only table inside the tasting room which was great. Love the concept …HezO
FISH FACTORY TO RESTAURANT
If somebody had told me I would eat at a restaurant in Doringbaai at an abandoned fish factory, I would have laughed. What a lovely surprise. Fryers Cove vineyards are a short distance from Doringbaai, near Strandfontein. A small wine farm with the cellars in the old abandoned fish factory. This is great to see that someone had the vision to create this and give the locals work.
We had the oysters – fresh from their own tanks – hake and calamari. All was well cooked and in ample portions. Service was great, even though it got very busy. The view is great with the old jetty and sea in front of the restaurant. If ever you find yourself in Doringbaai, maak n draai. (pay a visit).
It’s like the restaurant at the end of the universe. The old decrepit fishing factory adds so much atmosphere. Bamboesvlei Sauvignon Blanc is exceptional delicious.Karoo Chick
WORTH EVERY KM
We visited the restaurant and winery on a sunny autumn day and what a pleasant experience! It’s a bit of a drive from most places, but so worth it. We had some platters and tasted all the wines. Top class wine and food! Will most definitely return in the future.HendelC
I RETURN EVERY TIME IM HERE, FOR THE WEST COAST FEEL AND GREAT TASTING WINES.
Went for lunch and couldn’t be on the west coast without trying the “snoekkoekies”! These are smoked snoek fish fish cakes and taste beautiful. This little eating hole and winery is hidden away and accessible via dirt road from Lamberts Bay and I return every time I’m here for the west coast feel and great tasting wine.OriginalChappo
